Two long delayed test rolls on two of my favourite cameras that I found in eBay. First is a Votar Flex made by a company called Haking in Hong Kong. It is a TLR but works more like a Diana/Holga camera. So, it takes away all the ‘pain’ from shooting with a TLR … no focusing, no shutter speed settings and it has just 3 aperture values just like the Diana/Holga cameras.
The test was quite a mess. I forgot to check the specifications of the camera, thus I did’t know what was the minimum focusing distance. I went too close to the subjects and thus some of the subjects in the foreground were not focused. Secondly … I didn’t know what was the shutter speed! I fired some shots while walking and ended up with many blurred shots. I kinda like them, but I know some purists might feel like spitting at them. Muwahahaha!
Next … the AMI 66 camera from Poland. This Diana/Holga-like camera is a beauty (if you love plastic cameras). With some funny white polka-dots around the lens and a red dog logo … I’m sure many will fall in love with it’s cuteness. Okay, enough of being vain. The test shots …
Bad news. The rear cover popped open one day when I shoved it into my camera bag. Yeah, exposed frames down the drain. As for those who escaped this disaster, only a handful turned out fine. The rest? Way underexposed. Lesson learned … AMI loves the sun and I love AMI!
I’m a purist! Hahaha interesting cam! Care to show a pic of it?
