The Seventies

It has been 38 crazy years since I landed on earth and tonight … I’ve finally dug out some old photos of myself when I was a little baby and scanned them. I think most of them were taken by an uncle who was a photographer (or maybe just a photography addict like myself). Thinking back, I can still remember him going around on a big black bicycle and some pretty cool camera.

I did not do too much Photoshop work to recover the photos which were mostly yellowish and dusty. I love the retro look of old photos.

Here they are … some photos from the good ol’ times and even an exclusive nude photo of … nevermind … just proceed to scroll down …

The only set of square format photos. Not sure about the camera used but I’m damn sure it’s not a Holga. Oh, this was probably taken when I was 2 months old because there is a print on the photo that says ‘May 1971’.

My favourite shot from the set

Oh my! Soon I’ll like like this when all my hair are gone … 🙁

World exclusive preview of me in the nude. Should I do a similar one now of myself?

I like this shot a lot too. Dad kinda spoiled it by being so serious again. Duh!

My first birthday cake is hell huge! Wonder what were those red things on the plates though. There seems to be plates of rice too!!! Dad!!! Eating rice at parties ain’t cool!!! Hahaha. Nevermind. I know my dad well … he is a ‘ricer’ … which means he will go crazy if he doesn’t eat rice for a day. Really.

Caught on film!!! My dad eyeing the plate of rice!!!

I swear I was saying ‘I WANT THAT CAMERA!!!’ but dad pretended that he didn’t hear me. Hmm … he was probably too busy thinking about the plate of rice in front of us.

That’s my brother behind me. He’s a year younger than me. What on earth was he so happy about? Duh!

My first encounter with a camera. Well … just a camera case that is. From this photo, it definitely looks like the case for the Canon Dial 35 camera that I inherited from my dad. Grandpa bought it for him from Japan and dad told me he has never used it (though it was dead due to a leaking battery).

Tried hard to figure out what I was eating. Looks like pizza but don’t think it is. Dad was a traditional guy who thinks that fast food and pizza ain’t good. Grrrrr!!!!

… and which idiot made me pose like that beside some black fishes?!!!

I swear I grew up a lot more serious than this!

My serious looking brother suddenly seemed happy getting a hug from me 😛

Darn photographer trying to be artistic and composed the photo with flower pots bigger than our heads.

That’s my grandparents taking a family portrait with us. The only memories I have of them are pretty bad. They were so darn serious and strict that when we were at their place … we were not allowed to run around and make noise like other kids. Duh! Square people! Oh … and the little one in my mommy’s arms is my youngest brother.

Oh man. See how tiny I was back then? Dad was so young (and square looking) and mom was so pretty. Mom was a trained nurse in London and gave up her ambition when she met my dad. Damn. Dad’s square-ness must have some magic charm! Though I don’t recall him spending much time playing with us … at least I grew up loving Country music because of him (although he screams at me for playing metal music too loud). My childhood was boring. That’s why I am trying the best I can to give Fitzand the kind of childhood I have always dreamed of.

Damn. Now I miss them. Gonna arrange a trip back to visit them soon.
