At the same time when I was preparing the first exposure roll for my ‘Splat!‘ series, I grabbed two other rolls of film on my desk and did just the same … took photos of the ‘splats’. One of them was a roll of Kodak BW400CN and the other is a roll of Velvia 50 (which had a tragic death … you’ll read about it later).
Here are some photos off the streets from that roll of BW400CN. Unfortunately the 2nd exposure in some of them seems to ‘overpower’ the first one, thus the ‘splats’ are not too obvious. Both exposures taken with my good ol’ Nikon FA.
Please note that I wasn’t going around stalking all these ‘aunties’ but there were just too many of them at Waterloo Street … maybe shopping for the Chinese New Year. 😀
Nice stuff! Did you develop the b/w yourself:) i like the tonality and the splats. Did you shoot from the hip, or just shoot them directly?
Shawn, thank you. I got the roll developed at the lab and did the scanning myself. I did not shoot from the hip this time. They were all shot from eye level and I must say the split focusing on the camera helped. I usually too busy trying to focus that I forgot I was pointing the camera straight at people!!! 😀
Wow, shooting straight at them, good job man, ppl get very strange expression when they see me pointing the camera at them. sometimes i try to shoot at the hip to prevent detection:P
Shawn, I love shooting from the hip too! Hahaha! It’s just that sometimes I get sick of living and try pull stunts by shooting people ‘in the face’. So far, I’m still alive and well. 😀 Quite a thrill though. Do try it.
y u so creative one geh…. y u so free one geh???? lol
Noreen, coz I get bored easily. So free? I usually do these during the 1 hour ‘break time’ when Fitzand takes his afternoon nap or after 10pm.
