The postman knocked on my door today and handed me a parcel. Popped it open and out came a beautiful Lensbaby 3G courtesy of those great people in Lensbabies.
I do own a Lensbaby 2 and was quite reluctant (or rather my wallet was reluctant) to ‘upgrade’ to the 3G model, and this probably came as an early Xmas gift! For those who has not heard of Lensbabies … Lensbabies are SLR lenses that allow you to bring a particular ‘sweet spot’ of the photo into sharp focus surrounded by gradually increasing blur. You can then move the sweet spot around by bending the lens. Cool eh?
Here are some photos of my Lensbaby 3G, fresh out of the box 😉
Lensbabies’ mentioned that their mission ‘is to bring joy to professional and amateur photographers who wish to see and document the world in a unique and personal way’ … well I couldn’t agree more. I bought the Lensbaby 2 out of curiosity some years back and that changed the way I want my photos to be. It was also the Lensbaby that steered me towards experimental and toy camera photography later on. During a vacation to Japan several years ago, I decided to bring along only the Lensbaby 2 and despite the fact that many told me that I must be crazy, I had great fun photographing with it and the photos taken from that trip were some of my proudest ‘catch’ ever.
I’ll give the 3G a go this weekend and maybe write a simple review (can I really do that?!) or a comparison between the Lensbaby 2 and Lensbaby 3G. Meanwhile, I’ll leave you with a photo comparing the two lovely lenses …
wor!
looks like the giant baby meet the small baby LOL
