No! I’m not gonna give up photography or this blog of mine … and I’m not gonna drive a bullet thru my head and kill myself. It’s the last blog entry before taking a week off to visit my parents back in Malaysia for the Chinese New Year. Here’s today’s Lensbaby Diary entry …
I’m pretty lookin’ forward to the week off coz it’s the only time of the year that I can spend more days with my parents, drink lots of beer with my brother and perhaps doing nothing except slacking at home.
I’ve escaped the tradition of going visiting relatives for years … so the CNY is more of a relaxing time to me. Some asked me why I hate those visiting sessions. It’s because I can’t stand going from house to house, eating CNY cookies, candies and having to gulp down soft drinks every couple of hours (or less!). What tortures me most are those bloody boring question & answer sessions with relatives that I’ve not met for ages and having to be polite and nice. Dammit!
I can still remember clearly when I was a kid, relatives were always saying the same old shit (lies) like ‘Oh! He’s so cute!’ … then when we were older, we will get questions like ‘do you have a girlfriend?’, and later on … ‘when are you getting married?’. Fine. Once we got married … they will start asking ‘when are you gonna have children?’. It’s usually similar questions when we go visit the next relative’s home. WTH!
So now that I’m no longer cute, I’m married with a kid … what are they suppose to ask me next? Will they be asking when I’m gonna die? Duh! Don’t get me wrong … I’m not an anti-social fella … I’m just easily bored.
Ooops! Got carried away with those nonsense. Hehehe! Anyway, during the 1 week break, I think I’ll spend time playing with Fitzand, shooting a roll of Tungsten film in my hometown, do some macro shooting in my mom’s little ‘garden’ (yeah … the long lost fun of shooting macro!) and of course my Lensbaby Diary project. Hmm … maybe I’ll try finish modifying a camera that I did halfway too.
Til next weekend … have fun & wish everyone a Happy Chinese New Year.
Happy Chinese New Year!
I’m so happy to go back hometown and go house to house of my relative to collect angpow…
until i read ur entry about those questions… *i totally forgot*
Argh!….
Gonna prepare to answer all the same qst like last yr. 🙁
Actually I don’t find those questions bothering at all. In fact, I enjoy spending time with my relatives, feasting, gambling and chatting. After all, that’s probably the only occasion when everyone takes time out of their busy schedule to gather together. I feel really joyous especially when I see how happy grandma is enjoying the big company.
Hope you’ve a great trip home.
Happy CNY! 🙂
wa haha, for a moment I thought I’d miss this newfound blog.
yeah, something similar is happening here with me in Hong Kong. Relatives and being easily bored. Expecting more great photos and techniques from you when you’re back.
Your title shocked me … lol. OK, Gong Xi Fa Cai and have a good holiday.
GONG XI FA CAI!!!!! lets have fun and b merry!!!!
Mel, Cyan, Pat, Wilfrid & Noreen … wish all of you a Happy Chinese New Year too 🙂 Have fun and don’t forget to take tons of photos.
Cyan, I’m glad to hear that you enjoy it. It’s great to have normal people like you to keep the tradition alive. It would be a disaster if everyone thinks like me. Hehehe.
