“Yucks!”, “Eeeew!”, “WTF?!!!”
These are some of the replies I expect when people see this Pop9 camera of mine. Hahaha!!!
I’ll name this camera ‘TRAGIC’. Sounds okay? I got this Pop9 camera for free (yay!) when I purchased a cheapo flash not long ago. It’s working fine except that the gold ‘paint'(?) on it has way too many scratches and the flash is dead. I’ve no problem with the flash, since I hate using in-camera flash but I kinda hated the gold color on it.
One night when I was having beer with some friends, we were discussing about the Holga designs I did and we were joking about ‘designing’ a camera that make people go ‘YUCKS!’. Aha! That’s a great idea, but I can’t bear to make a Holga or Diana look ugly! No way! So when this Pop9 came along … I knew it’s the best candidate to undergo a ‘UGLYfying’ operation. Work on it started about 2 months ago but I was too lazy to complete it … til now.
Here it is … the TRAGIC Pop9 camera 😛
I’m not sure what will happen when I bring this out for photo shoots … but I’ll definitely be bringing it out very soon. Stay tuned for updates. 😛
ewwwww….. yes… u did it again…. its ugly
The Flash does not looking so good, but it’s ok. I think you have done a good job. Paint th tape, and it will be perfect! 😉
Noreen, thanks again 😀
Adrian, thanks for the tips. Honestly … when you said that the flash doesn’t look so good … it’s good news to me 😀 This means I’ve managed to make it ugly. 😀
i like the ‘wrecked’ look of the cam!
haha it’s ugly…but it looks cool too! as in at least it serves the direction you wanted it to go. wonder will you be selling to people on the net haha, might even fetch quite a price.
anyway i know this may seem out of line in this entry, but recently i found a konica centuria 200 (expired since 2003) it was kept in a closet locked most of the time away from sun and heat. do you reckon that it’s still usable? or should i sacrifice it to the redscale? haha
Ben, thanks.
Kenneth, thank you too. As for the roll of Centuria, I think it will be cool if you try using it. You might get some pretty cool results with that expired film. I’d say don’t use it for redscale … it might turn out pretty cool if used as a normal neg. Red scaling it might not give u that long-expired film output.
wooo…looks like a butcher’s lomo cam! It’s bloody funky!
