Cybertron Con 2012

After his music lesson this morning, I brought Fitzand to the Cybertron Con 2012 … an event that this little Transformers fan has been looking forward to since I told him I bought the tickets some many weeks back. He even told his teachers that he won’t be coming to school in March because he’ll be at the Transformers conference! Hahahaha! Gosh … he probably thought I was bringing him on a trip to Cybertron!

There was a long queue when we arrived but luckily things moved fast and we were in the venue within 5 minutes!

Lots of different characters were on display. From those in the 1st generation to some rare ones. Some looked a little retro while some looks really awesome!

Luckily Fitzand wasn’t too interested in these … otherwise he’ll be asking for them. He is more into those characters from the Transformers Prime series which I have the season 1 collection on the way to me on Bluray from Amazon.

I only managed these few shots … shooting with only one hand while the other was carrying Fitzand.

Oh I didn’t know Megatron looked so cool in candy-colored outfit. 😀

A view from up above … on the platform getting ready for the photo session with 22 foot high Optimus.

Fitzand enjoying a yummy early dinner at Hard Rock Cafewhile I gulped down 2 pints of beer.

The only ‘serious’ shot I took today … still with bad lighting … pumping ISO to 3200. The K-01 seems pretty good at low light too eh?

There was no escaping from Fitzand wanting to go up on the platform for a photo session with the 22 foot high Optimus Prime …  for S$20. Luckily a guy who was in the queue with us offered me his extra ticket (for the photo opportunity) for half the price. Here’s a scan of the print …

Don’t ask me why I look as serious as Optimus. It was really physically demanding most of the time we were there as all the displays (of the toys) were on high shelves … I had to carry Fitzand so that he can catch a glimpse or two of those awesome characters … and I was half dead after half an hour.

Of course I took some snapshots of the little fan there. Lighting was bad and I had to pump ISO to 3200 to capture the photos. Thank God for technology … they (the photos) are pretty acceptable.

The boy was clowning around before we checked out the merchandise stores there. He picked up 3 more (!!!) of them … Ratchet, Soundwave and one that is a leopard that transforms into a robot. The leopard one is from some Japanese version of the cartoon I think.

Here’s a photo of his ‘collection’. I was trying to photograph his 3 new ones but he made me shoot all of them. Luckily I could use the sweep pano option. 😀 Click on the image for a larger version …

At the end of the session … he saw the Energon cube (or is that the Allspark?) and made me take a photo of him. Hahaha! He’s been doing all sorts of weird poses lately!

Hmm … I think I messed up the sequence of photos. Hahaha! The one with Fitzand at HRC should be down here. Anyway … I’m too tired to edit it. I had my fisheye lens with me today and of course I gave it some warm up. I showed Fitzand how the results will be (shot using a fisheye lens) and it wasn’t long before he started making funny faces at the camera.

There’s just no stopping him when he starts …

I cropped the one below into square format as there were many distracting subjects (people!). I went ‘Duh!’ when I saw the lady in the frame but seconds later … I kinda like it (with her there). See the contrast between her and the other two clowns? Hahaha!

He wanted to check out Universal Studios again but too bad it was drizzling. Promised to bring him there again soon (after I recover from my aching arms and legs).

Mr. Funny still hasn’t given up!

A fun day ended with mommy buying him some chocolate in a package with a teddy bear in a trolley. He was super happy …

  1. Very, very cool Transformers pics. I though I was the biggest fan of the Cybertron Transformers; what I wouldn’t give to make it to the next conference.

  2. @chris : Sorry your comment went into the spam folder. 😀 I’m sure many of you big fans out there are looking forward to the next one. 🙂
