Meat Loaf once sang about having two out of three ain’t bad but that isn’t always the case when trying to get a single shot (that you want) when having kiddos as your model. Well … maybe not all of them will cause such stress but I am sure most of them are. Correct me if I am wrong though. 😀
I didn’t get to finish a roll on my compact today and to cure the itch … I thought I could try using my Instax cam to snap a couple of photos of Fitzand … and getting him to pose with a Diana F+ clone or two. That’s based on a theme set my Lomography in one of their post. The photo has to be a portrait of someone with a Diana F+ clone.
There was no way I can being myself to do a self portrait … so I engaged the services of Fitzand who happily agreed when I showed him the camera I was gonna take the photo with. He knows that the cam spits out photos instantly and honestly I started to worry a little. He will want to use it!!!
So after a short while … I managed to get a photo that I wanted (this one below) but …
To get one single photo that I wanted … I had to sacrifice 5 more. That ain’t bad on a roll of 35mm but on a pack of Instax Wide film … that is a lot! Hahaha! Let’s see what happened to the other 5 shots …
According to the illustration (by Lomo, above) … the person has to hold the camera with both hands. Fitzand did so but he suddenly went for the emo pose … moments before I tripped the shutter. Bye bye shot #1 …
Okay … next he asked for the orange camera. Orange? Well … the Tori edition. This time … out came the peace sign … again … moment before I tripped the shutter. Bye bye shot #2 …
By the time this photo (above) was taken … I had already got the shot I wanted … but my little boss told me that he wanted to pose for one more shot … with his ‘lion’. Thinking that could make him happy and I could call it a day … I took a shot of him with the camera he requested … ‘colorful one!’. Bye bye shot #3 …
I was wrong. He didn’t give up. He wanted another photo without the camera. Bye bye shot #4 …
By this time … he was ready to leave my study room and go show his mommy the photos. He hesitated for a while … looked at the last shot (which was still developing) and told me ‘wait for it to go black … let me take one more first!’. Gosh! This time he went for the camera … took a shot of his lion head … bye bye shot #5.
He ran to show the photos to his mommy and told me to stick the photos on the wall (in his room). I’ll do just that tomorrow morning since I’ve scanned them. 😀
I actually don’t quite like scanning these instant photos. Why? Somehow my scanner always give me results with a blue cast and photos turn out pretty dull. I usually have to hold the photo beside my monitor … then try adjust the contrast & levels to try get the scanned version to be as close as possible to the original one.
Love his peace sign shot…he is one cute model!
Love the teethy smile 🙂
Nothing is wasted…I love every shot!
@Jenni : Thank you
@Ta : Thank you too. That’s one of his ‘signature smile’ when posing for photos. Hahaha!
@Jer : Thanks! 🙂
It is really amazing that your boy is such a great model. I am having a tough time shooting my girl and gotta do the “journalistic” way most of the time.
@Jer : All you need to do is some CONvincing. Hehehe. Trick em lil ones into posing. Bribe with yummies. Tell them to pose and then you let them shoot you (with cam of course!) afterwards etc. Try some of those and soon you will know what I mean. Fitzand doesn’t volunteer to pose for me (unless there are some Mickey or other cute stuffs that he wants to take photo with). 😀 Good luck! 😀
hahahahaha…. he is still the best model. LOL
