Darth Vader Cam!

Many years after selling off what I thought was the ugliest camera ever (the Orbit 360F), I stumbled upon another one that is a little butt ugly but has a weird futuristic look. Introduced in 1991, the Konica Aiborg is sometimes referred to as the ‘Darth Vader camera’ by some. It has a 35-105 zoom lens, is pretty heavy despite the plastic body and rubbery grip. It arrived just the other day and here are some photos & info about it …

On the top of the camera … there is a cool looking LCD that shows the camera settings!

At the back … you can find a joystick-like switch that is used for zooming (when moved vertically) and for manual focusing (when moved horizontally). Yeah … it allows manual focusing!

The next image shows the lens barrel at 35mm and at max zoom 150mm …

Cool eh? Hahaha! The motor is a little noisy and the cam is pretty heavy. Other than that … it seems to be quite a cool camera to play with. I’ve yet to finish the rest roll though. 😀

  1. It looks more like a cylon from Battlestar Galatica to me, rather than Darth Vader.
