For those who are interested in picking up a rangefinder camera or those who are just curious about what a rangefinder is all about, there will be a rangefinder introduction showcase and talk on the 6th August 2010 at the Glass Hall, Singapore Art Museum. I ain’t part of this community (yet) because I ain’t got no rangefinder camera … but just helping a friend spread the word (and poison). 😀 I’m wondering if I can find time to attend it but at the same time … I’m worried about my wallet.
Rangefinder Singapore (RF.SG) is a film photography community founded by a group of rangefinder photography enthusiasts. Led by Mr. Dan Kwan, the group has more than 100 members. Since its formation in early 2010, the group has organized photography outings and workshops with great success. RF.SG looks forward to an opportunity to work with Singapore Arts Museum (SAM) to organize an educational showcase on film photography with a rangefinder camera. The show will showcase photography, rangefinder cameras and films.

The educational programme will focus on going back to the basics of photography with film and rangefinder cameras. Details include:
‐ Introduction on how film and rangefinder photography is relevant today
‐ A slides presentation of members’ work – A photography exhibition
‐ Sharing by members on their photography journey through a rangefinder camera
‐ Vintage and current rangefinder cameras exhibition
‐ Premier of RF.SG first Photobook – a compilation of some of the best work by members
‐ A Leica/Voigtlander corner for attendees to get the first hand feel of a rangefinder camera
