I’ve managed to sell off 2 of my custom design Holga cameras in just two days and the only one left now is the wooden design Holga. Suprised at the good response I received since I posted that blog entry, but I’m even more surprised at the amount of emails, text messages, calls and private messages I got. No, not that I’m complaining, since I’m selling these cams off for charity … but I am pretty amazed at some of those ‘encounters’. I’ll share some of them here …
I did reply about 5 or perhaps 8 text messages that came thru my phone … asking how much I am asking for a particular camera. I thought I mentioned it in the blog post already? Okay, fine … so I replied each and every one of them. So what happened next? Nothing. Yeah … nothing! The interested parties did not even reply me! Duh!
Some even offered to trade some other cameras for these … but … no thanks … I’d prefer to donate cash.
Next, are cases where there will be text messages or emails, asking if they can view the camera. Of course! Why not? But! But!!!! They told me they were not interested to buy, and just wanna view the cameras because they look really cool (yeah I know) and they are either gonna view the cameras only or try see how it’s done. Dammit! Why the hell are there such shameless people on earth?
Another headache I had was when some people contacted me asking if I could do the same designs on their Holgas. Well I don’t have too much problem getting such requests but I will just wanna highlight that I will not do the same design again … no way. No matter how much you are offering me, I will not do it because I have committed to the buyers (as stated in my post) that these are 1 time off unique designs. Well, those who are interested can copy the designs but that doesn’t concern me at all.
After all these headache and hassle, I am glad two of them are already sold. Hope someone will drop by and pick up the beautiful wooden design Holga soon and I can write a cheque and send it to a charity organization accordingly.
I will soon work on more designs (yeah I have few new ideas yet to be implemented) and run another round of charity sale. If you are wondering why I am doing this … let’s just say I have fun designing them and don’t mind doing some charity once in a while. Anyone who wishes to partner me in doing this … can donate some unwanted new or old Holga cameras for me to work on.
My younger brother saw me selling these for charity and guess what … he asked me why not pocket the $ from the sale instead of giving them to charity! Ain’t he pathetic? Well for someone whose only form of ‘charity’ is buying drinks for girls at the pub … I ain’t too bothered about his comment.
Thank you again for your support.
Cheers!
Ha ha ha … such a fun read.
Erm … could you please tell me if …
Kidding! Good luck in selling the last piece. Happy that you do this for charity.
Hehehe. Glad there’s only 1 left for sale. I’ll change the way I sell them the next round I get new items for sale. I was under lots of stress for those 2 days that I think I’ll need some donation for me to buy beer instead. 😛
Well done, ndroo! Not that you’re in need of cash that you have to sell these holgas?! Maybe you should sell them and buy me drinks at canopy? hahahahaaa….. great work! 😀
i can donate the beer. 😀
Cin, I’m sure a 50D and soon to be Leica owner don’t need me to buy beer right? 😀 Well, I do need cash but I know there are people who need it more than I do (no … I don’t mean you). 😛
Jim, thanks. I’m looking forward to that. 😛
All cameras are sold and donation has been made to Singapore Children’s Society. Thank you, everyone.
hip hip hooray!!!!
