New Lensbaby Fun!

From those cool people who brought us some special fun into the world of photography … Lensbaby … has just launched two new products to their already fun line of lenses and accessories … the Fisheye Optic and also the Soft Focus optic.

The Fisheye optic works with the Composer but will need a special adapter to work well with the Muse. While the website didn’t mention anything about the Control Freak, I assume it is not compatible. Do correct me if I’m wrong. For those big fans of fisheye photography, I’m sure this is one lens you might wanna consider to get that crazy cool fisheye effect on your photos.

Turn your Lensbaby Composer into a fun fisheye lens with the Fisheye Optic. The Fisheye Optic’s ultra-wide 12mm focal length and 160 degree field of view captures eye-popping fisheye views from infinity all the way down to one inch from the front of your lens. The Fisheye Optic is designed for use with the Composer, and can also be used with the Muse with the purchase of a special adapter.

This mega fun fisheye lens is available in their online store here at a price of US$149.95.

The Soft Focus Optic is part of the Lensbaby Optic Swap System, for use with Lensbaby’s Creative Effects SLR camera lenses, the Composer®, Muse®, and Control Freak™. Soft Focus Optic images are overall soft and diffuse and are designed for a variety of soft focus applications. Photographers can control the degree of softness by changing the apertures.

This optic kit costs US$89.95 and is available here in their online store.

The Soft Focus Optic is compatible with the three latest series of lenses … the Muse, Composer as well as the Control Freak.

Do check out those links to the stores above to see some very cool sample images. Sorry I am unable to give any review/comment about them as I’ve yet to receive them from Lensbaby.

From the sample images, I am pretty damn sure they will be pretty fun to play with when the usual sharp boring (don’t send me hate mails ok?) photos just don’t cut it.

  1. @solace : Yes it is. The Lensbabies are my favourite lenses although I must admit I’ve been neglecting them for a while. Too many toys, too little time. 🙁

@mijonju : So are you gettting them? 😀

  2. @lawry : Hahaha. Oh yeah. I had one but gave up halfway because I was so busy that I hardly had time to even take a photo for a while. I’ll see if I can resurrect it come 2010.
