A Love Story

Here’s a real love story that has a beautiful sweet ending. A long long time ago … Miss EE-2 (born between 1968 to 1977) noticed that her elder brother, Mr F (born around 1963) was feeling depressed. He was old and horny lonely. So one day, Miss EE-2 decided to find her poor lonely brother a soul mate. Month after month she searched high and low for the perfect partner that she hoped might bring joy and happiness to her brother.

After a long search, finally she came to know about his young and sexy Miss E-P1 and without hesitating … she arranged a meetup, hoping that finally Mr. F can find true love. True enough … when Mr. F met Miss E-P1, it  was love at first sight! He has never seen anyone sweeter!

Miss E-P1 has everything that will make a man fall madly in love with her. With a sexy sleek profile and fair white complexion … there is nothing more any man can ask for …

… and probably the only ‘flaw’ was she was kinda flat in the ‘front department’. However, take a look at the photo below and you’ll realise it ain’t really a ‘flaw’ at all. In actual fact, she looks so sleek that you’ll wonder why you’ll even want something bigger in front of her. Right?

Back to the story. Soon … they decided to get married and they lived happily ever after. Their daddy had to sell half his kidney to pay for this beautiful wedding but he ain’t complaining.

End of story.

Sweet story ain’t it? No? Okay, okay, okay … I was just trying to find an excuse and blame the lonely Olympus Pen F for it all. The actual fact is that I fell in love with this newly launched digital Olympus Pen aka E-P1 and it is the first time in history (my history) that I’ve pre-ordered a digital camera. The sexy white version proved too much for me to resist and I pre-ordered the 17mm f2.8 pancake lens kit set. The other lenses are bigger and since I want something a little compact, the pancake lens is my only choice. I was told that the cool white leather half case/strap is way overpriced (although they don’t seem to have them here at the moment) but there will be some 3rd party cool cases/straps coming real soon.

This baby arrived today and I can’t wait to go test it out tomorrow. The camera battery is still charging as I’m typing this but I did try taking a couple of shots and it feels great! The camera body is pretty well built and I love the cute shutter sound it makes (unlike my Canon 40D which is pretty darn loud).

Let’s see if I can spend some time and do some test shots later today (it’s 2am now!) and perhaps write an entry about what I feel about it. Please do not expect a proper review because I’m biased and also easily satisfied. Hehehe.

The set came with a free 8GB SD card and an extra battery. The problem is … to redeem the extra battery, I’ll have to sign up with Olympus e-club that charges about S$45 for lifetime membership before I can get the battery ‘free’. Hmmm. Since the battery costs about S$80 to S$90, I think it is still worth it.

I’m also thinking of getting a Pen F mount to Micro Four Third adapter so I can sometimes try using the 38mm f1.8 lens from the Pen F on this E-P1.

  1. She arrive already? I can’t wait to see the result, please post it once you’ve tried it out today. Drooling~~~

  2. @Kahong : She arrived yesterday evening. I’m out with her in my bag now (nicely wrapped too!) and took just few random snapshots. Yet to really test it out but I’m loving it so far. I love using the art filters in video!

  3. wah so fast.
i just saw on dpreview last week.
What other lens are available for it now?

  4. @Max : I think there are only 2 from them now. The 17mm f2.8 pancake lens and the other is a 14-42 zoom lens.

@Rachel : Glad you like the ‘story’. 😀

hrmm, maybe can get adapters to play with om lenses and m42 lens 😀
(but might need micro 4/3 > 4/3 adapter > other adapters?)

  9. @saklas : Yeah. I’ve just got myself an EF to M43 adapter. A Pen F to M43 is on the way too. 😀

  10. Wow, if only I could afford one of these. But hey, I have two kidneys, right? How wasteful. Hmmm.

  11. @Lo : Yeah … two kidneys, two ears, two eyes, two hands, two legs … how wasteful. LOL! 😀

  12. Hello, I love your pictures and this story! I’m sitting here waiting for my new e-p3 to arrive via fed ex TODAY. I’ve never owned a PEN before and I’m excited. My point and shoot died early in the summer and I recently got a horrible little “loyalty” camera that takes awful pictures. LOL So I’m writing to ask you if I can post one or two pictures from this post on my little blog. I’d have to borrow a camera from a friend to take a neat pic of my new PEN…. I wanted to ask permission first. If you’d rather not, that’s OK too. I will link back to this post. I’m putting your blog in my google reader too. 🙂 I’ve found several great photo blogs since my search to find my camera upgrade.

  14. Just stumbled across this article and love it – in part because, in May of 2015, I just purchased my first Olympus E-P1, a pristine and lightly-used Pen – so your perspective on the relationship between old Pens (which I used to shoot with, in a previous analog lifetime) and the new ones, is/was very cool.
