Watches has always been another tempting ‘sin’ for me but the good thing is it has always been under control. It all started some years ago when I was drooling over a Tag Heuer Link Oracle/BMW racing series (limited edition of 1500) and one fine day my wife managed to get the local Tag Heuer store to transfer the one unit from Malaysia over to Singapore … I had no choice (really?) but to buy it. 😛
I own only 3 watches until this afternoon when I succumbed to temptation during lunch. I fell in love with this Swatch watch and since the last time I bought a watch was years and years ago during my honeymoon in Switzerland … out came my credit card to be tortured again (good thing is this doesn’t cost too much).
I love the messy stuffs that’s on the face although it makes looking at the hands a little difficult … but it still a lot easier than some of those skeleton watches I was tempted to buy before. I was attracted to the red and blue stuffs on it … the little stars … and errr … the mess!
A call to adventure with an intricate mix of navigational charts and maps. This evocative Irony Retrograde has a black structured silicon strap. Mounted on the brushed stainless steel 316L case is a polished stainless steel 316L bezel with a red tachymeter scale. On the upper half of the white flange surrounding the multiform white dial is a black minute ring with Arabic numerals; the lower half presents the 30-second retro counter scale, which is blue with white numerals. Applique silver hour markers indicate all hours but 6; a white-on-black date window appears at 4 o’clock. The centre of the dial features a vertical stripe decoration surrounding a sun-brushed silver and grey world map ringed in dark blue with white Arabic numerals showing hours 16, 20 and 24. Superimposed on the map are the 60-minute arc in red, blue and white; the 5-minute arc on a sun-brushed silver and brass dial ringed by red and blue bands and white labels; and the continuous seconds counter with red and white bands. Reflective metal squelette hour and minute hands with white superlite highlights and a slim metal chrono seconds hand mark time.
I shall resist temptation to buy any watch for at least another year or so I guess. All those irresistable plastic cameras are enough to kill my wallet for now.
