Brought my family to Junction 8 for breakfast today and after spending almost 10 bucks on some Barney kiddy ride, lollypop and other treats for Fitzand, I escaped to the CD store there and got myself two CDs that I’ve been wanting to get. First was Green Day’s new album ’21st Century Breakdown’ and second was Eminem’s ‘Relapse’ (read that he’ll be releasing a ‘Relapse 2’ later this year too). I’ve yet to finish listening to all the tracks on the 2 albums but I love what I hear so far. Dr Dre’s magic touch (and voice) on the Relapse album is a wonderful bonus and Green Day’s follow up to the anthemic rock opera style American Idiot is simply wonderful.
There was a little panic case when I looked at the Eminem’s CD cover in the car before I popped it in the CD player. I was damn sure I made damn sure there was a Parental Advisory sticker on the CD before I bought it. Why? I didn’t want any of those F words (or as a matter of fact … any word) being muted due to censorship. Why would anyone bother to buy censored versions of such CD? They might as well go buy the latest George Straits album eh? I’m a George Strait fan by the way. Haha! The reason for the panic was because many years ago when I bought D12’s album and it was peppered with short silent ‘gaps’ because all the F words … the S words … the B words … were muted. Dammit! That probably took away 10% of the total words in the lyrics of all the songs! 😀
You can’t see the Singapore Edition text on this image because I’m too lazy to take photos of the CDs and leeched these images from Amazon.com … muuwahahahha!
Back to the panic story. My jaws dropped when I saw that it was printed ‘Singapore Edition’ on the album cover and the price was a lot less than the other CDs! Don’t tell me they charge less for it because they took out those many words?!!!”. It is embarassing to admit this but … I popped in the CD into the player … sat there in silence and waited for the first F word to fly out from Eminem’s mouth … and it did! I was so damn happy I bought an ‘unbutchered’ version of the album.
Once someone was travelling in my car and asked me ‘… so how on earth are you playing songs like these when Fitzand is around?’. Hahaha! I actually blast the songs in my car when Fitzand is not around or on my iPod Touch only. I wouldn’t want his teachers to come asking me where he learned those words (yet). See? I’m good influence! 😛
