Instant LC-A? [UPDATED]

UPDATE!!!

It’s official! The instant back is also compatible with the old LC-A camera! Cool! Now time to see a big time rush at the Lomography store! Check out lomography.com for more details. From the sample photos, it is true that the vignetting seems pretty much the same in all the shots but well … still it’s gonna be fun. The Instant Back alone costs € 100.00.

————————————————————————————————————————————————-

Recently I received some images in my email about some leaked info on a new Lomography (LSI) product. Whoa! An instant back for the LC-A+/LC-A?!!!! OMG! That’s really super duper cool! It makes the camera much bigger though. Let’s take a look at the photos (which I’m sure many of you has seen them floating around the cyberspace) …

Amazing ain’t it? That is probably the dream of almost all the LC-A owners out there. Not sure if it is meant for only the LC-A+ or will it fit the old LC-As but from the photos above, notice that it says ‘LC-A Instant Back’ and not ‘LC-A+ Instant Back’? If those clever (and evil) people did make this compatible with the old LC-As, then I guess their bank account is gonna be overflowing with $!

Lomography’s website is now getting the public to try guess a new mystery product but from the replies … it seems most are placing their bet on this instant back.

‘Don’t Screw Up Your LC-A+’… hahahaha! Guess this cute screw driver comes with the set? From the photo, looks like there are some DIY back replacement to do. Guess they didn’t plan all these when they designed the LC-A+ (unlike the Lubitel 166+ which has an easy removable back). So what now? Buy an extra LC-A+ for this? Hmm. Clever … very clever!

I believe these images were from Patrick Ng’s cool blog (I recognize the wooden box!) but I don’t seem to be able to find the entry in there. Maybe LSI kicked his ass for letting the cool cat outta the bag? Hehehe. But I’m sure LSI don’t mind … since I’m sure that instant back gonna be selling by the truckloads. Few more days before the official announcement, so let’s all pray that it won’t cost a bomb.

Do I want one?

OF COURSE!!!

  1. ok i think my wallet got an extra partition.. lets open it to see if there is extra cash.. em… .. no cash… wait.. waaa!@! some cash leftt!

  2. @Mijonju : Okay … good. Since you find some cash left … please send them to me through registered post. I need them.

  3. Like I always said they will came out of something. Cos the fundamental of getting it done is complex.

  4. Any idea on price ? I hope it fits the LC-A+ . What kind of work do you think you’ll have to do , to make it fit on the back of the LC-A , I see screws and glue there !?!?? Hurry up Wednesday !!!

  5. its a probable $200 downer. I hope its only for an LC-A+ cos i have no money to get it for my LC-A!

  6. Poison alert! Hahaha!

@John : No idea about the price. Just wait a few days more to find out. 😀 I think it could be just a matter of removing some screws and then screw in some new parts (probably a hinge?). The glue part could be just to stick back the leatherette that is on the side which you might have to peel a little to gain access to the original back.

  7. @nic : Yeah I think it won’t be more than 200 bucks (hope so). If it can fit the LCA too, why do you need to get 2 for both the LCA+ and LCA? 😛

  8. @Nic – ouch , at least its my birthday in 10 days , so hopefully I’ll get some cash !

@Ndroo Lets hope it is as easy as that , I don’t really want to carve up my LC-A+ …

  9. @John : I don’t think it will be too complicated. Like I said, they probably didn’t planned the back earlier or else they’d have interchangable back like the Lub 166+. I’m waiting for the instant back for the Lub but after seeing the LCA one … I hope the Lub version comes out later. I can’t afford spending so much on toys. I need to save $ for milk powder (and beer).

  10. Thanks for the link to my site. I just didn’t realize I wasn’t supposed to post anything until tomorrow, so I took the post offline. Too bad vox couldn’t allow me to remove from group posting. I had some very nice result with this, far better than Diana instant back+, however the vignette is quite strong, some may not like this effect.

  11. @Patrick : You are adding to the itch. Hahaha. Does the vignetting happen to all photos regardless of the lighting? It will be quite boring if all the photos have similar vignetting though. Did LSI kick you ass for leaking the goodie news or are you asking them for pre launch promo fees? 😀

  12. @ndroo I think it may , but I can’t be sure … time will tell !

Can any one translate the page ?

  13. wow patrick webbie is just as poisonous… i just spend an hour there……

  14. @noreen : Yeah. He’s good with those cool craft thingie. Not sure what is the correct word for it but one look … you’ll love the stuffs he does.

  15. @ndroo, you are right, vignetting happen to all photos pretty much the same way. However, the darker the environment is, the less obvious vignette is produced, that’s logical anyway. At the other end, no matter how bright your photo is, even to the point super exposing the subject like these failure shots (http://twitpic.com/14kixv, my out of focus shots included) you will find the vignettes pretty much the same, yes that’s boring and sometimes annoying.
LSI just reminded me that they would like to launch worldwide for all products exactly the same timing, so I was not supposed to spoil that surprise, and I am sorry about that. Oh, I didn’t know I could ask for a fee for such leak 🙂 Hope they don’t stop letting me to preview some stuffs.

    @noreen, thanks!

  16. I PLAN TO BUY AN EXTRA LC-A+ JUST FOR THIS!!! HOW?!!!! Because I’m not going to spoil my 25th Anni LC-A+!!!! HOW?!!!!!!

  17. @cyanwater : Btw … don’t forget to reserve one for me okay? I’m sure they’re gonna be flying out of your shop faster than anything in the world when they arrive. How many are there on the pre order list now? 😀

  18. oh great! who selling their LC-A to get the ‘+’ just for the instant back? SELL TO ME!! 😀

  19. @John : It is still not 24th yet over there. Maybe we stay awake all night to wait for the news. 😀

  20. Its the 24th in merry old England , its just gone 10am . I am awaiting am email from the folks @ lomo , for the good news !

  21. @shunzi : As a consolation (price more than Diana instant back), we probably waste less film with this one on the LCA.

  22. juz saw the microsite video, damn it kinda tough for the film backdoor.. not for the faint hearted ahaha.

  23. @shunzi : What’s so tough? The instructions (video) are pretty clear. 😀 Shouldn’t be a problem as long as you look hard and follow the instructions. 😛

  24. The LCA Instax Back is not S$190, its about S$142 after conversion from 780 HKD.
I am pretty damn sure fixing that thing on my LC-A will give me sweaty palms. Hope its as easy as shown in the videos. If screw-up, have to find online consultant ndroo liao. Hehe..

  25. @Zig : The price is pretty okay … I think. I’m sure you can fix the back easily.

@lawry : Worried about flaws in the 1st batch? Hahaha. They are coming to ThirtySix in mid March. I’ll have to wait til then.

  26. I’ve learned some new things via your web site. One other thing I want to say is newer laptop operating systems are inclined to allow far more memory for use, but they in addition demand more memory space simply to work. If someone’s computer could not handle far more memory along with the newest application requires that memory space increase, it can be the time to shop for a new Laptop. Thanks

  27. I absolutely love your website.. Excellent colors & theme. Did you create this site yourself? Please reply back as I’m trying to create my own blog and would like to find out where you got this from or just what the theme is called. Thank you!
