Lomography probably got tired of making more variations of the Diana F+ clones for a while and decided to make something a little different. Lens adaptors to use the Diana F+ lenses on SLRs/DSLRs! I’ll grab one of these if they do have an adaptor for the Micro 4/3 … for my Olympus E-P1. Now I’m tempted to go DIY one for the Micro 4/3 mount! For now … it comes in Canon EOS and Nikon F mount only … and costs US$12 each.
I’ll be a little worried using these on a DLSR though. On windy days … dust might easily get into the camera body and pepper the sensor! Hmm.
Seems Lomography has another half a million ideas up their sleeves to wipe out every cent in our wallets. I’ll give this a miss.
i have an F mount adapter for my e-p1.. hhaha so i guess i will be using an adapter + adapter + lens.. hahaha
will it fit a Canon G9?
@mijonju : I do have that adapter too. Now I’m wondering (again) if I should get a F mount one someday. 😀
@wey : Nope. The G9 doesn’t allow changing of lens and you can’t use these on the G9. Why not grab a cheap film SLR to use these? I’m sure shooting film with these lenses are way more fun. 😀
Did you say you’ll give this a miss? I remembered someone by the name of ndroo told me to order one for him just this morning. Hmm…
@cyanwater : Yeah. I thought of not getting one as it will probably be the kind of use-once-and-sleep-forever-in-the-drawer item … but since you need some orders to hit the free shipping quota … I don’t mind investing 12 bucks. 😛
Ya, right! I believe there are many other stuff you’ve only used once(or never used) lor. Excuses! Buy!!! Lol
@cyanwater : Actually since I said ‘ok’ yesterday … I’m still not sure. Hahaha. Anyway just do it. Guess I won’t be using it on the DSLR like what I told you yesterday and using it on a SLR somehow takes away all the fun of a Diana camera. Guess you know what I mean. Anyway for 12 bucks … what the heck. Hehehe. No, don’t try poison me with other stuffs. Yeah … I don’t need the xpan.
Ndroo,
I am looking forward to seeing some sample pictures…
Won’t expect the vignette but may be you can crack the cap…to get some light leak…Hee!
wanted to get one at that price but don’t wanna pay the same again for shipping.
May be I’ll wait until my local shop carries some.
Ta
@Ta : Oh yeah … the shipping for this little thing is a little crazy. Best is wait til you’ve got something else to buy from them and add this adaptor to the order.
Andrew,
Decided to make a bender for it well..Ran’s kits.
Check out if you have a minute

Ta
hey ndroo
are you guys refering to shipping from lomographyasia.com? S$33 in all and yea, like mentioned, with about half of that for shipping. i got an account just cos i was really tempted by it and i would only save 3 bucks with my 20 piggies. I actually wanted to get the bundle with the 20mm to use on my canon. But then.. i came across this page.
are you serious about cyanwater needing orders to hit the free shipping quota, or do i just not realize you’re just kidding? cos if you’re serious, maybe i could umm, contribute. =) oh, and uh, you think i could get the lens from objectifs or somewhere in sg? you think if i got the adaptor with you guys and the lens locally, it’d be cheaper?
i’m so long-winded.. sorry.. and thanks
hey sorry it’s me again.. i realized from their website that objectifs does have the 20mm, but i doubt there would be much price difference cos they’re directly related to lomographyasia.com.
Anyway, do let me know about the adaptor.. thanks alot
@tv : As for as I know … cyanwater’s order has long been placed and items has arrived. Hahaha. Why didn’t you act faster? 😀
@Ta : The benders are real cool!!!
ooo.. haaah, cos i only found out about this 3 days ago, and i figured that there was still a chance cyanwater wouldn’t have reached the free shipping quota yet, but i guess it’s more popular than that.. oh, and also i didn’t really think of getting the adaptor and lens separately till yesterday.. did cyan order it from lomographyasia.com?
coool.. but what exactly does the bender do? 😀 distort the image?
actually lomography.com is probably the only place you can ship them from innit.. sorry, silly question.. so i guess i can assume it was from the asia branch, but even then, it got delivered real fast…
hey ndroo,
what’s the f-stop for the adaptor? any idea?
@tv : Hmm. Good question. I’ve just collected it yesterday and yet to check it out. Will give it a try later tonight or tomorrow and let you know. 😀
Well, actually i put it on and realized we don’t have to know.. It just seems to work instinctively in aperture priority and you can further adjust with exposure compensation or in manual…
@tv : I’ve checked. It is the same aperture as the ‘cloudy’ setting on the Diana lens. Hmm. That’s f5.6? Ermm … I’ve been using the Diana for years but don’t even know the aperture value of the settings. 😀
hi ndroo/ tv, got my adaptor for Nikon F65… meters are disabled so can only use manual mode and adjust shutter speed… so can only use guess-timation? 😛
@lawry : Did you try using it in aperture priority? On my old Canon 88, I think the metering still works fine. Not 100% accurate but still okay. I use my Lensbabies on it and photos turn out okay.
hi ndroo, only can set manual for non-CPU lens (read: instruction) … so my nikon body just like a diana liao haha 😛
well like i said, from what i see, it seems to work rather instinctively in AP mode although it perhaps has a tendency to overexpose by about a stop.. now whether it exposes based on the so called stated aperture of 0 maybe be somewhat speculative, but it seems to be working somehow.. What’s likely is that it’s really all in the metering I think.. Basically, and this probably sounds way obvious, is that the camera is just metering as per usual and adjusting the shutter in AP mode based on whatever light gets through the adaptor…
short answer –
i think does work more or less right with metering and any overexposure is likely due to the metering mode..
hur, i’m so redundant
@lawry : You mean full manual mode? I think it depends. Using the Lensbabies (also non CPU), so far on Canon (yes, even old SLR ones), it meters quite okay. I’ll probably load a roll and try it out soon.
@tv : Yup. Sometimes we do need to compensate exposure a little to make sure things work out fine.
yea definitely.. it could use about 2/3 – 1 stop down…
yup fully manual for my F65 😛 the rest of functions can’t work 🙁 maybe different camera/ models behave differently i think…
hye 😉 . wanna ask. does this adaptor can fit with minolta x700 slr camera?
@fatah : I don’t think they have the adapter for Minolta mount at the moment. What I saw was Canon & Nikon ones only. Well if you want .. you can always get a Minolta – Nikon/Canon adapter so that you can use one of these on your x700. Hope this helps. 🙂
hi ndroo, fyi, my shots turned out OKay ! posted them on my lomo home (lawypop) liao 🙂
@lawry : Cool! Will check it out.
hi, i’m not a pro at lomo, more on exploring on the dslr side. so i’m not actually sure if this adapter could fit ALL diana lenses or?
@abby : It fits all the Diana+ and Diana F+ lenses … not the old Dianas from the 60s. Are you referring to the other lenses like the other lenses like the Diana F+ telephoto lenses? If it is … then yes. They have the same ‘mount’ like the normal Diana+/F+ lenses.
thanks there. that makes it all very worth it to be purchasing telephoto, fisheye, super wide angle, spilter PLUS the adaptor all at only 116usd for me. obviously i would be missing out on the fun of operating from the original diana itself, but i’m sure i’ll make do with it in any case.
any other good diana lenses you think i should get on your recommendation? 🙂
hi guys,
just got myself a-20mm fisheye & 38mm super wide plus adapter for my canon 500d.
do you guys have pics taken by those lenses using DSLR? any link(s) for me to see?
thanks.
ray.
@raymond t : Congrats on your new buy. Unfortunately I’ve yet to try out the lens on my DSLR and now that I’ve sold off my Canon DSLR … my adapter won’t be of any good with my Pentax one. 😀 I am sure some of those guys out there who has tried the lens on a DSLR and perhaps we can find some samples in Flickr.
@raymond t : Hmm. Come to think of it … I still have use for that adapter because I still own an old film SLR (Canon). 😀
Can I use this with my Canon EOS 500D?
@ Isabel : You definitely can … as long as you get the Canon mount one.
Alright, thanks so much ndroo! 🙂
Oh btw, what filter thread is used for this adaptor? 52mm? 58mm?
Or, do I need to have any other lens to use this? I’m kind of confused on how this thing works. 🙁 Thanks so much ndroo!
@Isabel : This adapter goes right onto the camera body. You do not install this in front of any other lens. What you do is get this adaptor (for your case a Canon one) … mount it on the camera body and then mount a Diana lens onto the adapter. Basically what it does is convert a Diana lens into a Canon mount one. So what you need to do is get this adapter and also a Diana lens (you’ve to buy a Diana cam for this).
Ohhh, so no point in using it with my 500D if I don’t have a Diana lens? Hmm.. alright then, thanks! 🙂
@Isabel : Guess you’ll have to ‘invest’ in a Diana cam to use this. 😀
Hmm.. alright. So let’s say, I buy a Diana+ 20mm Fisheye lens, I need the adaptor right? So since I don’t have any of the two, I have to buy both to be able to use it? Alright, thank you thank you thank you! 🙂
@Isabel : That’s right. 🙂
Hey ndroo, another question, does the 38mm super wide angle lens and fisheye lens have a fixed aperture?
@Isabel : Yes they do.
